Deafblind Graduate Certificate Initiative Application

In an effort to support local education agencies to provide quality educational services for students who are Deafblind, Texas Education Agency (TEA) provides funding to help defer the cost of completing a Deafblind Graduate Certificate through Texas Tech University (TTU).

Applications are accepted throughout the year, but there are deadlines for consideration: June 1 for the fall semester, November 1 for the spring semester, and April 1 for the summer semester.

By completing this application, you agree to apply for admission to the TTU Graduate School and complete coursework leading to a Deafblind Graduate Certificate. Further, you acknowledge that, if awarded funding, you will apply new knowledge to your work with students who are Deafblind in the state of Texas and will provide any follow-up information requested from TTU, the Special Education Specialized Supports (SESS) grantee, and/or TEA.

(Data and or follow-up information will be general and will not violate FERPA.)

Required Attachments:
1. Essay: Explain “Why I Would Be a Good Candidate for this Project.” Describe your current and anticipated future involvement with students who are deafblind and your commitment to continued work in the field. Feel free to add anecdotes and examples of your knowledge and experience related to serving students who are deafblind.
2. Letter of Recommendation 1: Please provide a letter of recommendation from a direct supervisor and/or administrator in your current school district.
3. Letter of Recommendation 2: Please provide a letter of recommendation from someone who is familiar with your work with students who are deafblind. (e.g. parent, colleague, professor, etc.)
4. Documentation of acceptance to Texas Tech's Graduate School and Deafblind Graduate Certificate Program.
